Walter W. Zausch, CEO & Founder
Walter started and designed Distijl to blend his passion for Kentucky Bourbon with his experience in technology and customer experience. "The Bourbon industry is rife with potential for innovation and disruption, and Distijl is developing opportunities to be the thought-leader in that effort."
Prior to starting Distijl, Walter spent 15 years in technology with Apple, Microsoft, and most recently, MakeTime, a manufacturing startup in Kentucky. He was the founder of Launch Louisville, a non-profit entrepreneurial community in downtown Louisville with 100+ members and growing.
Walter is an Executive Bourbon Steward, an alumnus of Moonshine University, and has a BARCH in Architecture from the University of Kentucky. Walter is married, with 2 sons. He loves live music, the Beatles, U2, REM, to name a few, and is an avid Kentucky basketball fan (go alma-mater!).
Greg Franklin, Sales & Product, Bourbon Sommelier
Greg brings extensive knowledge and experience to Distijl with all things related to spirits, specifically Bourbon and Whiskey. He has served in the hospitality industry for years, advising and educating his customers. Greg has hand-selected some outstanding barrel picks in all the major heritage distilleries in Kentucky and has served as a Bourbon Sommelier, advising restaurants, bars, and other venues in their spirits offerings. Greg's beard has its own Twitter account, and he is an avid, albeit often very sore, soccer player and Louisville City FC soccer fan.
Nicolas Deitrich, Operations/Business Manager
Nic has been a leader in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, managing restaurants in different settings from fine dining to fast-casual. Hospitality is in his blood growing up in fine dining restaurants with his father, Bim Deitrich, a renowned Louisville restaurateur. Nic worked alongside him in conceptualizing and managing many great locations throughout Louisville, including Allo Spiedo, Red Lounge, and Primo, among others. He brings a passion for customer service and a knowledge of cuisine and wine and spirits.
Nic is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in Communications, and has an MBA from Purdue University. Nic is married with 2 children. He enjoys spending time with his family at the soccer fields watching his kids play for Falls City Soccer Club. He’s an avid Louisville City FC fan and a die-hard fan of both the UCLA Bruins and the New York Yankees, neither of which we hold against him.
Kari Lynne Stevens, Executive Chef
After studying Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management at Sullivan University's Culinary School, Kari was the former Chef de Cuisine at the Butchertown Grocery in Louisville. She combines her culinary and Bourbon knowledge to offer exceptional food experiences for our customers at Distijl. One of her specialties is her ability to prepare an entire elevated menu using an open fire pit, cooking only with the open flame and coals. Kari enjoys all things outdoors, hiking and camping, and is a passionate mother of two kids.
McCallister Cox, Technology & Communications
"I was born and raised in the land of fast horses and fried chicken. I am proud to be an alumnus of Trinity High School." McCallister has been with Distijl nearly since its inception when he met Walter working at Apple. Currently, McCallister is pursuing a degree in Communications at Bellarmine University. He is responsible for customer communications, data systems, sensor development, and general technology support for Distijl.
McCallister serves as the resident Dungeon Master for Distijl.
Joe Wright, Bourbon Consigliere
Joe Wright is passionate about all things Kentucky and acts as a resource to Distijl with extensive legal experience. Combine all of that, and it is appropriate that he would take an interest in supporting and advising a young Bourbon company. Joe has 20+ years of legal experience in the energy derivatives and commodities sector and currently serves as the Executive VP and General Counsel of OTC Global Holdings.
Joe holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky School of Law. Go Cats!

Scott Casey, Strategy & Business Development
An experienced collaborator and strategist with a demonstrated history of working in the wine and spirits industry, as a researcher for Brown-Foreman. Scott is skilled in Consumer Products, Market Research, Shopper Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods. Scott is a talented business development professional with a Master of Business Administration - MBA focused in MBA from Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business School.
Scott and his dog Bella were early members of the Distijl movement, from Jan 2019 through Feb 2021, and the company wouldn't be the same without his contributions. You are missed Scott.
